Simferopol

The capitai of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, its economic, scientific and cultural centre.
The year 1784 is accepted as the date of its foundation, however this locality had been inhabited since times immemorial.

Within the boundaries of the present-day city, in the Chokurcha Cave, there was a Moustierian site of primitive men who lived there 40,000-50,000 years ago.
In the 3rd c. BC - 3rd c. AD Scythian Neapolis, the capitai of the Late Scythian state, stood in the territory of the present-day city.
